Hindu Vrats and Upavas

In Hindu Culture, Vrat means fasting and is vastly practiced by the devotees. It can be said that it is a promise kept by believers and symbolizes devotion. Vrat is kept to gratify the Gods and Goddesses. During the Vrat, devotees do not eat spices, wheat, cereals and some particular vegetables. Foods like nuts and milk products, dry fruits, fresh fruits and vegetables are the most ideal things that are eaten by the devotees during fast.
